The Canadian Prairies comprises of the Great Plains several and other areas known as the Prairie Provinces. These include Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba. These provinces are vastly grassland zones and are characterized by lowlands and plains. There has lately been a wild rush by the major Canadian cannabis industry players to establish their business activities here.
Publicly traded companies expanding their operations in the areas
The independent retail cannabis store owners seem to be against the establishment of some major businesses in Saskatchewan. They want to combat the entry of these businesses in Saskatchewan’s legal pot industry on fears they might disadvantage them.
Reports indicate that that the publicly traded companies have been increasing in this zone quite fast. This is not the only affected area. The other Canadian Prairies have been experiencing the same thing. Canopy Growth Corporation, for instance, has opened a large number of its stores in Regina. The other company opening stores in these zones is Fire and Flower.
Choom Holdings Inc (OTCMKTS:CHOOF) had earlier reported that it would be constructing more facilities in the Prairies. This is now happening and a person well conversant with the matters says its latest facility is quite large. This happens to be a purpose-built facility that will survive harsh environments and harvest conditions. The company seeks to produce high-quality yields and says pressure from external parties won’t distract it.
Chemistree is the other company that is openly showing its love for the Prairies. It says that it is always keen on obtaining proper licensing before starting its business activities anywhere. The company has also joined in the wave expanding its operations to the Prairies.
Tilray Inc (NASDAQ:TLRY) on its part says it will always embrace any business strategies that help it move forward. An official working with it says that just like the rest they have seen the potential of the Praire provinces. They will be seeking to make the most of it. The business has already set aside funds to help with the establishment of more locations in this region.
Remarks from a top researcher
At this point, most of those that wanted recreational cannabis legalized are making preparations to celebrate the first anniversary. The event is fast approaching as people continue talking about the shifting dynamics. The act of the Prairie Provinces outshining the outstanding players such as Quebec and Ontario isn’t easy to believe for many. These changes in the Canadian market shouldn’t be dismissed as bad. They might as well pull along with some advantages in the long run according to analysts.
The editor of BCMI Cannabis Report Chris Damas has aired out his views regarding the recent dynamics. The official states that the rise of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and other provinces isn’t working quite well for Ontario and Quebec. Damas insists that these changes are starting to make the two, Ontario and Quebec, look bad.
However, the official has something positive to say about Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. He thanks all of them for giving private retailers room to sell their products.
