Microsoft’s (MSFT) bid to generate more revenues from generative artificial intelligence has received a significant boost with the unveiling of a new set of tools. Azure AI Foundry is the latest tool to help cloud customers build and deploy artificial intelligence applications. For starters, customers can switch between the large language models underpinning artificial intelligence.
Azure AI Foundry Impact
Consequently, customers using older OpenAI products should be able to leverage or switch to other AI tools from Mistral or Meta Platforms on the Microsoft Cloud platform. In addition, clients will be able to ensure applications are working properly to enjoy a significant return on investment.
Foundry is based in part on an older product called Azure AI Studio. Other new features include tools for businesses to use AI agents, which are digital assistants that can act on behalf of users and are semi-autonomous. Facilitating model switching won’t jeopardize Microsoft’s strong alliance with OpenAI but make it easier to select the best OpenAI model for every task. However, Microsoft is aware that providing options is essential to drawing in and keeping customers.
With the launch of Azure Foundry AI, Microsoft hopes to give corporate customers a reason to buy more cloud services. Azure AI, a cloud service that enables developers to create and execute applications using any of 1,700 distinct AI models, is currently being used by 60,000 customers. Consumers don’t want to switch models without understanding which tasks they are best suited for, nor do they want to redo their applications each time something new is introduced.
